Hi there, welcome to my reflections on my 2026 spending.
Like everybody else, I got paid the week before Christmas — but this payslip felt different. For the first time in four years, I knew it was enough to cover all my bills, buy some final Christmas gifts, and still have money left for socialising.
That moment made something click. In 2026, I really need to sort out my financial situation. I’ve had enough of saying “don’t talk to me about money”, “I can’t afford that”, or “this time next year I won’t owe anything”.
So my plan is to attempt a ‘no spend year’ or as close to one as I realistically can. To keep myself accountable, I’m going to document what I choose to spend money on, what I go without, how it makes me feel, and the habits I’m building or breaking along the way. I’ll also be tracking my progress towards clearing my debt.
This isn’t about perfection or deprivation. It’s about spending more intentionally, reducing waste, and proving to myself that I can live well without constantly buying more. If you’re also trying to escape money anxiety or rethink your relationship with spending, you’re very welcome here.
I should say upfront … I’m not a financial expert. I’m learning as I go, making mistakes, adjusting, and sharing what’s actually happening rather than what looks perfect on paper.
I’ll be posting a weekly blog to review my spending and reflect on what I’ve learned. Over on Instagram, I’ll be sharing a weekly spending post, a midweek money habit or observation, and a payday round-up — both to keep myself accountable and to hopefully make money feel a little less overwhelming for anyone following along.
So welcome, lets see how it goes!
